RUSTOWIL HISTORY
Rustowil Holsteins is located two kilometers north of Highway 401 on Woodburn Rd. near the city of Kingston, Ontario, Canada. Rustowil Farm Inc. has been a viable dairy farm since 1930. The original farm was bought by Bill's father and now consists of more then 700 acres. Bill, Eileen and son Mark now operate the farm. The herd scores 8 EX 52VG 36 GP. We are presently milking around 80 cows and feed a TMR ration and hay. Bill has strived for healthy cows that work hard for him and also takes care of the daily maintenance. Mark is the herdsman and has taken great interest in genetics and building a better herd of cows. His dream is to earn a second Master Breeder shield for the farm. Rustowil is on a regular flush program to try and better the herd and tap into the good cow families they have or have bought into. A new heifer barn was put up in the fall of 2005 along with a manure pit. The barn has more then 50% ET calves in it at this point and can hold up to 80 head. A DeLaval calf feeding system was recently installed in a Cover All building. Mark hopes it proves to grow stronger, healthier calves. The Morelands hope for a bright and prosperous future at Rustowil. "Our focus is on the development of new and old cow families, from the high type show cow to the higher indexing animals. Our goal is to better our herd and help better yours." |
